Results Overview of March 2025 H&H Classics Motorcycle Auction at the National Motorcycle Museum

H&H Classics’ first motorcycle auction of 2025, held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull on 26 March, achieved impressive results, with over 270 lots offered and a combined sales total exceeding £1.5 million. The auction boasted a 95% sales rate for classic motorcycles and 78% for vintage scooters, reflecting strong market demand.

Notable Sales:

  • 1930 Brough Superior SS100: This exceptional motorcycle, built for and ridden by George Brough, sold for £241,500, surpassing its lower estimate by £41,500 and achieving the highest price of the day.

  • 1932 Ariel Square Four: A rare overhead cam model, sold for £11,000, highlighting its desirability among collectors.

  • 1955 Ariel Square Four Mk2 1000cc: This authentically restored ‘4-pipe’ model fetched £6,000, demonstrating strong interest in post-war British engineering.

  • 1954 Ariel Square Four Mk2: Nicely presented and recently recommissioned, this model sold for £5,600.

  • 1922 Coventry Eagle S68: A very rare example, achieved £12,075, exceeding its lower estimate.

  • 1982 Harris Kawasaki F1 Race Bike: This competitive machine sold for £10,810, also above its lower estimate.

  • 2023 BSA Gold Star: The last bike ridden on screen by the late Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers, sold for £18,170, with proceeds benefiting the NSPCC and CancerCare charities.

  • 1965 Lambretta TV200: Previously owned by world-famous cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins, this scooter found a new home for £8,833.

  • 1957 Lambretta LD150 Mk3: Owned by TV presenter Henry Cole and featured in a forthcoming episode of ‘Shed and Buried’, it was hammered away for £1,955.

Mike Davis, motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, commented: “We’ve had an incredible start to 2025 with our first auction, which was full of collectable classic motorcycles and vintage scooters. The high sales rate and packed auction hall clearly show there’s a strong appetite for the right bikes, including those commanding a six-figure sum.
